1724 premiere of Johann Sebastian Bach's "St. John Passion" on Good Friday in Leipzig. 1763 Domenico Dragonetti born - Italian double-bass virtuoso and composer (d.1846); remembered today for the Dragonetti bow, which he evolved throughout his life. 1805 premiere of Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 3 "Eroica" in Vienna; Leonard Bernstein called the first two movements of the work "perhaps the greatest two movements in all symphonic music." 1970 Leif Ove Andsnes born - Norwegian pianist (43 years old); also a Professor at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo.
