Thursday March 15 and Saturday March 17 at 8:00PM
Giancarlo Guerrero, music director of the Nashville Symphony Orchestra and now in his first season as principal guest conductor of Cleveland Orchestra Miami, leads The Cleveland Orchestra in Severance Hall concerts featuring Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 in F “Pastoral” Op 68. Cleveland Orchestra Principal Trumpet Michael Sachs performs in the world premiere of Michael Hersch’s Night Pieces (for trumpet and orchestra). Night Pieces was commissioned by The Cleveland Orchestra. The concerts end with Ottorino Respighi’s symphonic poem The Pines of Rome.

Giancarlo Guerrero leads The Cleveland Orchestra in Grieg’s Piano Concerto in a Op 16, with Gabriela Montero as soloist, and Respighi’s symphonic poem The Pines of Rome. This is the third concert in The Cleveland Orchestra’s 2011-12 KeyBank Fridays@7 series. Prior to the concert, the Hilario Durán Trio, led by Afro-Cuban-Latin jazz pianist Hilario Durán, performs in Reinberger Chamber Hall. Following the concert, the Hilario Durán Ensemble performs in the Grand Foyer, joined by musicians from the Oberlin Performance and Improvisation Ensemble.

Giancarlo Guerrero leads The Cleveland Orchestra in a Severance Hall concert that opens with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 in F “Pastoral.” Gabriela Montero is soloist in Grieg’s Piano Concerto, and the program ends with Respighi’s symphonic poem The Pines of Rome.
