The 2011-12 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with a live broadcast of Verdi’s Aida. Latonia Moore, replacing Violeta Urmana, makes Met Opera debut as the enslaved Ethiopian princess. In house role debuts, Marcello Giordani sings the hero Radamès and Stephanie Blythe the Egyptian princess Amneris, Aida’s rival. Lado Ataneli is Amonasro, Aida’s royal father, and James Morris is Ramfis, high priest of the Egyptians. Marco Armiliato conducts the broadcast for the third consecutive week, leading the Met orchestra and chorus in one of Verdi’s grandest scores.
The intermissions will include backstage interviews and the popular Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera Quiz featuring guest artist soprano Patricia Racette.
