1:00 METROPOLITAN OPERA
The 2011-2012 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with a live broadcast of Verdi’s Ernani, featuring an acclaimed cast. The rising young American soprano Angela Meade is Elvira; Marcello Giordani is her beloved, the bandit Ernani; and Dmitri Hvorostovsky and Ferruccio Furlanetto play her noble suitors, Carlo and Silva. The performance will also be transmitted worldwide to more than 1,700 movie theaters in 54 countries as part of The Met: Live in HD series.
The intermissions will include backstage interviews with the stars, led by the host of the HD transmission, mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato, and the popular Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera Quiz, featuring guest artist soprano Diana Damrau.
