12:00pm THE METROPOLITAN OPERA
The 2010-2011 Metropolitan opera Radio Broadcast season continues with a live broadcast of Debussy’s Pelleas et Melisande. The revival is conducted by Sir Simon Rattle, artistic director of the Berlin Philharmonic, in his Met debut. The distinguished cast includes Stephane Degout and Magdalena Kozena in the title roles, with Gerald Finley, Felicity Palmer and Willard White. All five singers are making their Met role debuts in this production.
The first intermission will feature live backstage interviews with the singers as well as an “Ïn Memoriam” segment paying tribute to Met stars who have died in the past year. The second intermission will include the popular Metropolitan Opera Quiz, hosted by soprano Sondra Radvanovsky, who will appear in performances of Tosca later this month and Il Trovatore in April.
