Legendary tenor Plácido Domingo sings the baritone title role of Simon Boccanegra with Met Music Director James Levine conducting this afternoon. This season’s performances of Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra mark the first time Mr. Domingo has sung a baritone role with the company. Noted soprano Adrianne Pieczonka sings Amelia, while Marcello Giordani and James Morris return in their acclaimed portrayals of Gabriele Adorno and Jacopo Fiesco, respectively.
Intermission features include the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera Quiz, hosted by baritone Teddy Tahu Rhodes, who is heard at the Met this season as Escamillo in the new production of Carmen, in addition to backstage interviews with the artists.
