WCLV 104.9 is moving its studios and offices from the current Radio Ranch location in Warrensville Heights to the Idea Center on Playhouse Square in downtown Cleveland, the home of ideastream, Cleveland’s public broadcasters WVIZ/PBS and 90.3 WCPN FM.
The construction of WCLV's new studios and offices is nearing completion, and those in charge of such things have given us some dates:
On Monday, December 6th, two of WCLV's control rooms will be moved to Idea Center, with air programming switched over at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, December 8th.
At 10:00 AM on December 8th, station connectivity with the WCLV Internet web sites, audio stream and e mail will go down until later in the afternoon. The web sites will still be able to be accessed by viewers, but WCLV will not be able to connect to them.
On Thursday, December 9th, the WCLV offices will be prepared to move.
Also on December 9th, the WCLV phone lines will be down at 2:00 PM until late in the afternoon on December 10th.
The WCLV offices will be moved on Friday, December 10th.
Most air programming will not be affected, although some shows, normally live, will be pre-recorded.
WCLV will be sharing space with OneCommunity, northeast Ohio’s nonprofit broadband network, which will establish offices and work area for HealthNet , which connects rural and urban healthcare centers.
By co-locating with ideastream, the two organizations, WCLV and OneCommunity, will be able to collaborate on programs and services designed to strengthen current efforts and foster new concepts. As opportunities are identified, the organizations will look for ways to work more effectively by partnering with one another.
The moves are funded by over $1.6 million in contributions from individuals, corporations and foundations. Additional contributions are being sought, and financing has been secured to cover the estimated $2.3 million cost of the development.
The architectural firm of Westlake, Reed and Leskosky and Turner Construction, who both worked on the original development of Idea Center at Playhouse Square, are again involved in this development.
