WINNERS OF THE 2010 COOPER/OBERLIN INTERNATIONAL PIANO COMPETITION

On Friday evening, July 20th at Severance Hall, the three finalists in the Cooper Piano Competition hosted and organized by the Oberlin Conservatory of Music performed with The Cleveland Orchestra and conductor Jahja Ling, a concert broadcast live by WCLV. They were (l to r) 14 year old George Li, who played the Chopin Piano Concerto No. 1; 16 year old John Chen, who performed the Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1; and 16 year old Kate Liu, who played the Prokofiev Piano Concerto No. 3
The prizes were awarded as follows:
1. George Li ($10,000)
2. John Chen ($6,000)
3. Kate Liu ($3,000)
The three finalists also received, pending admission, full four year scholarships to the Oberlin Conservatory. |
