JOAN KWUON MIXON MASTER RECITAL
On September 28, 2008, violinist
Joan Kwuon presented the first of the
Mixon Master Series recitals at Mixon
Hall of the Cleveland Institute
of Music. Selections from this program
will be broadcast by WCLV at 8:00 PM,
on Friday, October 16, 2009
Ms. Kwuon and pianist Teddy Robie will
perform the Enesco Violin Sonata No. 3;
and Song from Tango, Song and Dance
by Andre Previn. WCLV's Robert Conrad is
the commentator.
Ms. Kwuon has joined the CIM violin conservatory faculty
and has been named Artistic Director of the Preparatory Division. She performs as soloist
with orchestras throughout the world, and in concert venues including Carnegie Hall,
Lincoln Center, Krannert Center, as well as performing arts centers in Toyko, Seoul,
St. Petersburg and Prague. She made her Tanglewood Music Festival debut with the
Brahms Concerto at the invitation of André Previn. With advanced degrees from Indiana
University, Juilliard and the Cleveland Institute of Music, in addition to her teaching at CIM,
she currently teaches at The Juilliard School.
