FIVE WORLD FAMOUS CONDUCTORS
IN ONE PLACE AT ONE TIME




The  famous photograph above is from the 1929 Berlin Festival and shows five of  the world's
greatest conductors in  one place at one time.  (L to R)  Bruno Walter, Arturo Toscanini, Erich
Kleiber, Otto Klemperer, Wilhelm Furtwängler. Eric Kisch's Musical Passions program of
Sunday, September 27th at 11:00 AM, will  trace briefly their fate and play recordings which
show why they dominated European musical culture for half a century. 

This was an extraordinary story of musical passions in extraordinary times. Within a few years,
the Weimar culture which brought them together would be destroyed and the world plunged
unto totalitarian darkness. However, the men scattered, survived, flourished
