ASSOCIATION OF MUSIC PERSONNEL IN PUBLIC RADIO GIVES LIFE TIME ACHIEMENT AWARD TO WCLV PRESIDENT
On Wednesday, March 4, AMPPR, the Association of Music Personnel in
Public Radio, presented WCLV's President, Robert Conrad, with its first ever
Life Time Achievement Award. The presentation was made at the organization's
annual Music Personnel Conference, which took place in Fort Worth, Texas.
Presenting the Award was AMPPR's Vice President Jody Knol of WKAR,
East Lansing.
Among other things, Conrad was cited for his 44 year run as commentator
for The Cleveland Orchestra broadcasts. Research indicates that he has been
the continuous commentator for an orchestra broadcast series longer than
anyone else in the history of American radio.
The AMPPR organization, made up of classical and jazz programming personnel
in public radio, began in 1962. Conrad attended his first Music Personnel meeting in 1966.
