CONCERTS FROM BBC PROMS ON WCLV

The BBC Proms is the world's largest and best-known classical music festival, and
invitations to perform at it are a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Again this year, beginning
August 28th, performances from the BBC Proms festival are being integrated into
SymphonyCast, which is heard on Thursdays at 9:00 PM
on WCLV. The schedule can be
found below. The air host is Brian Newhouse, known to WCLV listeners from the joint
WCLV-American Public Media broadcasts of The Cleveland Orchestra from Miami.

However, on Saturday, September 13, at 3:00 PM,
WCLV will present one of the most
engaging and exciting concerts in the world of music – a live broadcast of the BBC’s
Last Night of the Proms. It’s a combination of great music and circus, with a respectful
yet rowdy audience that stands, rather than sits, throughout the two and half
hour concert. The BBC Symphony Orchestra, the
BBC Symphony Chorus and the BBC
Singers are conducted by Sir Roger Norrington with Bryn Terfel, bass-baritone
and Hélène Grimaud, piano. When they perform J
erusalem and God Save the Queen,
you may wish the Brits had won the Revolution.

Here is the broadcast schedule for the Proms at 104.9.
