WCLV TO PRESENT RETROSPECTIVE OF THE CLEVELAND INTERNATIONAL PIANO COMPETITION

Beginning Saturday, July 19, 2008,
at 4:00 PM, WCLV will present a
13 week restrospective of the 2007
Cleveland International Piano Competition. 
The one-hour programs, produced and
hosted by WCLV's Mark Satola, will feature
performances from all of the rounds of the
Cleveland competition.

The last four programs will be devoted to
the four medal winners, including
performances from the Final Concerto Round with The Cleveland Orchestra conducted by Jahja Ling.

On September 13th, Fourth Place winner Rank Dan will be heard in Liszt's Reminiscences of Bellini's "Norma;" Bach's Prelude and Fugue in eb from The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 1; the Second Movement from Rachmaninoff''s Piano Concerto No. 2; and Chopin's Polonaise in Ab, Op. 50.

On September 20th, Third Place Alexandre Moutouzkine will perform Domenico Scarlatti's Sonata in b, Kk. 377; an excerpt from the Liszt Piano Sonata in b; and Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1.

On September 27th, Second Place winner Yaron Kohlberg will play Debussy's The Girl with the Flaxen Hair; and Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5, Emperor.

The final broadcast of the restrospective CIPC series on October 4th, will feature the First Place Winner Alexander Ghindin. His program will include Chopin's Etude in a, Op. 25, No. 1 and the Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 3.
