OBERLIN INTERNATIONAL PIANO COMPETITION 2008 FINALS ON WCLV
The 14th annual Oberlin International Piano
Competition and Festival, sponsored by the
Oberlin Conservatory of Music at Oberlin
College, will be held from Saturday, July 26,
through Sunday, August 3 at the Conservatory.
WCLV will broadcast live the competition’s final
round, to be held in Warner Concert Hall Saturday,
August 2 at 8 p.m. WCLV’s Robert Conrad will be master of ceremonies; broadcaster Jacqueline Gerber, of WCLV’s morning show First Program, is the on-air host. Because of this special radio event, WCLV's Saturday evening Cleveland Orchestra broadcast, normally heard at 8:00 PM, will be heard at 1:00 PM.
The Competition provides a platform for talented high-school aged pianists to broaden their experience, gain exposure, and compete for three cash prizes. Conducted over the course of the week, the competition creates a collegial environment among participants. All participants are invited to attend the concurrent festival events.
