On Monday, January 7th, the venerable Monday Music Marathon, 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with no commercial interuptions, is transformed into The Big Work At One, with no commercial interruptions, just short sponsor IDs, Monday through Friday at 1:00 PM.
01/20/08 WCLV, WCPN, and WNWV broadcast The Cleveland Orchestra's annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Celebration Concert live from Severance Hall.
02/14/08 WCLV names winners in the annual WCLV Valentine's Day Love Poem
Contest.
02/26/08 WCLV broadcasts a live concert by The New York Philharmonc from North Korea.
03/05/09 AMPPR, the Association of Music Personnel in Public Radio, presents WCLV's President, Robert Conrad, with its first-ever Life Time Achievement Award. The presentation was made at the organization's annual Music Personnel Conference in Fort Worth, Texas.
03/21/08 On Good Friday at 1:00 PM, WCLV airs the St. John Passion of J.S. Bach in a performance recorded at the 2006 Baldwin-Wallace Bach Festival.

The Cleveland Orchestra returns to Miami for its second residency at the Knight Concert Hall on the weekends of January 25 and 26, February 1 and 2, and March 28 and 29. The January and March Saturday concerts are broadcast live not only in Cleveland, but also in Miami over American Public Media's classical station WKCP. Also, American Public Media feeds the concerts to its network of stations throughout Minnesota and the upper midwest.

Recognition Award for his production work on Healthlines at their
annual meeting. 

05/03/08 The Rainey Institute presents its annual fund-raising Glissando benefit at Sammy's University Club in honor of  WCLV and WCLV’s President, Robert Conrad.

The six chorus finalists in the WCLV/UCC Jubilation Chorus Challenge are  chosen to participate in the two-part live broadcast over WCLV at 8:00 PM on Friday, May 9, and at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 10, 2008. The 6 choirs, chosen from the 27 choirs that entered sample recordings are, in no order: Finney Choir of the First Church in Oberlin; Epworth-Euclid United Methodist Church; Old  Stone Church; St. John the Evangelist Cathedral; The Federated Church of Chagrin Falls; and Christ Presbyterian Church, Canton.
05/23/08 WCLV airs live a recital by the 2007 Cleveland International Piano Competition Gold Medal Winner, Alexander Ghindin, from the Cleveland Institute of Music's Mixon Hall. The Cleveland Institute of Music's new Conrad audio facility receives its christening with this broadcast.

The Classical Piano Performance Academy of Cuyahoga Community College presents three recitals from Tri-C East's Performing Arts Theatre, all broadcast by WCLV: Ran Dank, 4th Prize Winner of the 2007 Cleveland International Piano Competition; Chetan Tierra, 2nd Prize Winner of the New Orleans Piano Competition; and Pierre Reach, 1st Prize Winner of the Oliver Messiaen International Piano Competition.

06/28/08 Footlight Parade, the weekly show hosted by Bill Rudman, observes its 25th anniversary with a benefit at Cain Park in Cleveland Heights and is recorded for later broadcast.

07/19/08 WCLV begins a 13-week restrospective of the 2007 Cleveland International Piano Competition. 
08/11/08 WCLV presents daily reports on The Cleveland Orchestra tour of Salzburg and Lucerne, as well as concerts in Italy.
08/23/08 As The Cleveland Orchestra at the Salzburg Festival performs a fully-staged performance of Dvorak's Rusalka, WCLV offers listeners an opportunity to experience the performance vicariously by broadcasting the Severance Hall concert with the same cast that is appearing in Salzburg.

11/13/08  Alan Kuper, who for nearly 30 years served as the voice of the NE Ohio Sierra Club with daily "Notes from the Sierra Club" segments, dies after a prolonged struggle with cancer at age 84.

Community Blood Services collects 200 pints.

11/27/08 WCLV begins holiday programming including daily broadcasts of seasonal music from The Cleveland Orchestra Christmas concerts from over the years.
12/10/08 WCLV sends $5,000 checks to each of six major arts organizations--The Cleveland Orchestra; The Cleveland Museum of Art; The Cleveland Institute of Music; The Cleveland Playhouse; The Cleveland Foundation; and Ideastream, northeast Ohio's public broadcasting organization.This brings the total donated by the WCLV Foundation since 2003 to $160,000.

02/08/09 WCLV presents the first of a series of concerts by CityMusic Cleveland.
02/13/09 The winning poems in WCLV's annual Valentine's Day Love Poem Contest
are read on the air and posted on the station's website.
02/25/12 For its 40th anniversary in 2002, WCLV commissioned Oberlin composer Jeffrey Mumford to write a fanfare for the event. The work, entitled fanfare (good dial days) (w)e (c)elebrate (l)uminous (v)oices, was performed twice by the Cincinnati Symphony.
03/2709  WCLV promotes a weekend food drive by The Cleveland Orchestra and the
Cleveland Pops Orchestra.

The six choirs that will participate in the 2009 Jubilation Church Choir Festival are named: Epworth-Euclid United Methodist Church; The First Church in Oberlin United Church of Christ; Avon Lake United Church of Christ Chancel Quire; Westlake United Methodist Church; St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Canton; St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral Choir.

prelude to the 2009 CIPC.

Westlake United Methodist Church Chamber Ensemble, Director Andy Call, wins 2009 WCLV Jubilation Choral Festival,

05/20/09 A 1970s commercial spoof on Arnold Schoenberg devised by then Cleveland Orchestra conductors Matthias Bamert and Kenneth Jean and WCLV's Robert Conrad shows up as a video on You Tube created by someone in Germany. As of 05/20/09, there are been some 64000 views.
05/21/09 WCLV and the Ohio Music Education Association  recognize high school
seniors who have earned a Superior rating in OMEA's Solo & Ensemble adjudicated events for School Districts IV and VII.
05/25/09 WCLV begins an American Music Festival that highlights Memorial Day,
Flag Day, and July 4th.
06/01/09 WCLV previews the 2009 Cleveland International Piano Competition with
excerpts from previous CIPC events.
06/25/09 WCLV broadcasts live Lorin Maazel's final concert as Music Director of the New York Philharmonic

09/08/09  Beethoven, as I knew Him, the one-man show starring Hershey Felder, opens at the Cleveland Play House As a prelude to Hershey Felder's appearance, WCLV presents a Beethoven Piano Sonata Cycle, through Monday the 14th. During the Cycle, WCLV gives away CDs of Beethoven's music and tickets to the Felder performances at the Play House.

Bruno Walter, Arturo Toscanini, Erich Kleiber, Otto Klemperer, Wilhelm Furtwaengler, five of the world’s famous conductors, were at the 1929 Berlin Festival. Eric Kisch’s Musical Passions program traces their fate and plays recordings which show why they dominated European musical culture for half a century.
